Certified AI Safety

Your team already uses AI. Do you know where?

Most owners think their business barely uses AI. Then we look. Staff paste client details into free tools, software you already pay for quietly turned on AI features, and nobody owns any of it. I find it, show you what it touches, and help you put simple rules around it.

What shadow AI is

AI nobody signed off on.

Shadow AI is any AI tool used in your business without anyone deciding it should be. It's rarely bad intent. People are trying to save time. But when a client's file goes into a free chatbot, you may not know where it ends up. In a business built on trust, that's the part that matters.

It's common. In a 2026 survey of US small and mid-sized businesses, 42% found AI tools running that nobody had approved in the past six months. Most small businesses using AI have no written AI policy at all.

Often the next step

The Shadow AI Check

  • Every AI tool your team uses, including free ones and the AI features inside software you already pay for
  • What client and business information goes into each one
  • Who owns each tool, and which ones nobody does
  • A short written report, ranked by risk, in plain language
  • Clear next steps: what to keep, what to stop and what needs rules

Done by Brooke Trometer, Certified Shadow AI Practitioner (AICT, 2026). It starts with an AI safety call. If the check is the right fit, you'll know the price before anything starts.

After the check

When you need more than a report.

Some businesses just need the report and a few rules. Others need more. When that's you, I bring in partners who do this work every day, matched to the size of your business.

The two firms sometimes work together on the same project. Either way, I stay in the loop so your AI rules fit how the rest of your business runs.

How it works.

01

Book an AI safety call

We talk about your business, your team and the tools you think you're using.

02

Pick the right next step

Sometimes I run the shadow AI check myself. Sometimes Fellowship Intelligence or Trocola is the better fit, and I'll tell you which.

03

Get clear rules in place

A plain-language picture of what's running and what to do about it, from me or from the partner who fits your size.

Questions

About AI safety

What is shadow AI?

Any AI tool used in your business that nobody decided to allow. A free chatbot someone uses to draft emails, a note-taker that joins your calls, or an AI feature your software turned on in an update. It's not about catching anyone. It's about knowing what's there.

We're a small firm. Is this really a problem for us?

Often more than for big companies. Smaller teams rarely have written AI rules, and the people using AI are usually the same people handling client files. If you hold private client information, it's worth knowing where it goes.

Is this a legal compliance review?

No. The check shows you what's running and where the risk is. It isn't legal advice and it doesn't certify you as compliant with any law. If you need that, our partners and your attorney are the right next step.

Do I have to stop using AI?

No. Most of the time the answer is to keep the tools that help, drop the ones that don't, and put a few clear rules around how client information gets used.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the size of your team and how many tools you use. Start with an AI safety call. If I run the check, you'll know the price before anything starts. If a partner is the better fit, they'll quote you directly.
